Beekeeping in the Orchard
We have a beautiful orchard with all sorts of native fruit trees. We have plenty of apples in the Autumn and the bees have plenty of nectar in the Spring.
Bees are in trouble. So many farms around the world have become "monocultures". This is where huge amounts of land is used to grow only one type of plant.
By growing a variety of trees on site, a mix of native woodland trees and native fruit trees, we can help to combat this.
At Peat Rigg we have a huge range of biodiversity and we are always seeking to include more types of plant within our land. The bees have plenty to eat throughout the Spring and Summer and reward us with some amazing honey.
