Perfectly positioned on the edge of the North York Moors, we offer direct access to both the stunning woodland areas of the National Park and the wild beauty of the moorland, our location offers the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable DofE experience.
Led by a team of friendly, highly qualified instructors who combine local knowledge with real outdoor expertise, every expedition is supported by the safety, care, and facilities of a trusted, high-quality Outdoor Education Centre. With high-quality facilities including private campground, indoor showers, toilets, and our brand-new, state-of-the-art Outdoor Learning Hub ‘North Rigg’ for 2025/26! We create the perfect environment for participants to thrive. From first steps at Bronze to the remote challenges of Gold, every young person benefits from a safe, supportive, and enriching experience designed to build confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for the outdoors.

Our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh team will work closely with you throughout the planning and delivery of your expedition, with full support from our experienced staff every step of the way.
With in-depth local knowledge and years of hands-on experience, we ensure each course is not only safe and well-organised, but also rich in learning, challenge, and enjoyment for every participant.
As a not-for-profit CIC with over 30 years’ experience in high-quality outdoor education, Peat Rigg is now transitioning to a Charitable Foundation with the same Ethos and values offering exceptional value, investing in expert delivery, state of the art kit and meaningful experiences, rather than profit.
WHERE TO FIND US
Situated in the North York Moors national park, designated a Dark Sky Reserve.
The special status was awarded by the International Dark-Sky Association which said the park is a "global leader in dark-sky conservation".
Wild camp on your DofE and immerse yourself in one of the darkest skies in the country, with little to no light pollution making thousands of stars, meteors and the Northern Lights visible.
