Our mission:

Across our 97-acre farm, we create space for exploration, challenge and discovery. Each year, more than 8,000 people take part in our residential programmes, building confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging.

For many of the young people we support, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds or with special educational needs and disabilities, access to safe outdoor space is not a given. At Peat Rigg, those barriers are removed.

We are also custodians of the land. From nurturing 15,000 wildflower plants in our polytunnel to planting native hedgerows and restoring habitats, we protect and strengthen this landscape for the future.

Your support makes this possible. Together, we can ensure that Peat Rigg remains a place where young people grow, and where the landscape grows with them.

Why We Need Your Support

More young people than ever want the chance to stretch themselves, try something new and spend time in nature at Peat Rigg, and our programmes are evolving to keep pace.

We work to expand inclusive opportunities for young people with SEND, ensuring every activity is accessible, and every achievement is celebrated.  For children from disadvantaged backgrounds, a day outdoors can be a transformative adventure and a chance to experience something entirely new.

As demand for our programmes continues to grow, so too does our ambition. We want to expand our provision so that even more young people, regardless of background, ability, or circumstance, can experience nature, calmness and sense of possibility that time outdoors brings.

Your support makes this possible. A donation to Peat Rigg does more than fund an activity day. It helps remove barriers, sustain inclusive provision, care for our land and open the outdoors to those who need it most.

Your Legacy for Generations

Imagine a child stepping into our farm for the first time decades from now, discovering the same joy, freedom and connection to nature that young people experience here today, a gift made possible by you.

Legacy gifts provide long-term stability, allowing us to expand our provision, invest in inclusive opportunities and care for the land for decades to come. They ensure that the work we do today can continue to flourish well into the future.

Leaving a gift in your will is simple, confidential and can be tailored to suit your circumstances. Even a small contribution can create a lasting impact.

To learn more about leaving a legacy to Peat Rigg, please contact us for a confidential conversation. Your gift could help ensure that generations of young people and the natural world we care for, continue to thrive.

We were deeply honoured that a collection was held at Martin Holtby’s funeral in support of Peat Rigg Outdoor Centre. Martin was a passionate sports coach, particularly in archery, who took great joy in helping others develop, grow in self esteem and reach their potential. By choosing to remember him through Peat Rigg, his family and friends created a tribute that reflects the very values he lived by.

This generous gift now supports our work enabling young people to learn through sport and build their skills within a supportive outdoor environment. We are incredibly grateful for such a meaningful legacy.
